Responding to your questions about CVR - part 1

Thanks so much to all who contacted me last week about the Certified Veteran Recruiter Program™ and Professional CVR Credential. The response has been overwhelming and I think the best way to get all your questions answered quickly is to do it here. And, being Memorial Day weekend, I can't think of a better time to do it because I truly believe this program is going to crack the nut on veteran unemployment.

I'm going to do this in two parts, to keep the posts readable. Here are the top two questions with my responses; I'll do the next installment on Tuesday when I'm back in the office.

What is CVR?
The Certified Veteran Recruiter Program™ is a new two-day training course for professional recruiters, designed to establish competency in all aspects of the recruiting lifecycle as they pertain to the military Veteran job candidate. The CVR Professional Credential designates recruiters who complete the CVR course as having attained a degree of expertise in Veteran talent acquisition. The CVR Program is industry accredited by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).

Why is CVR important?
Veterans are a unique subset of the labor market, and largely unfamiliar to civilian recruiting professionals. Recriters' lack of experience and skill with Veteran job candidates is, I believe, a prime contributor to high unemployment among Veterans. Training recruiting professionals to effectively source, screen, interview, assess and hire Veterans is critical to the success of any Veteran hiring initiative.

Standby for part 2 on Tuesday and, in the meantime, have a safe and peaceful Memorial Day.
